The Allotment Soc.'s Summer Fete 2011

Another great day with most of the usual entertainment, thanks again to Sue, Simon and all the other volunteers who helped make the day such a success. Not that there wasn't the odd problem this year. The weather started off atrociously with the volunteers having to erect the marqees in torrential rain. By 11:30 however it brightened up with some sunshine and just the odd light shower.  The Fire Engine did turn up but had no sooner got through the gates when it got an emergency call, got to get their priorities right I suppose; and the New Ferry Community Centre Kung Fu Club couldn't give their presentation due to the muddy state of the site. There was plenty else available however with the addition this year of a presentation by Rockcliffe Raptors together with their birds of prey. All are pictured below apart from 'Ko Ko' the Barn Owl who was on walkabouts and missed his photo shoot.

Phil, on the left, 'retired' this year as our Chairman and thanks were expressed by all at the close of the Fete for all his efforts over the past few years.

Still doing his bit for the Society, here running the raffle (in the container due to the earlier weather.)

The Allotment Soc.'s Summer Fete 2010

A great day with even more entertainment than last year, a credit to Sue, Simon and all the other volunteers who helped make the day such a success. In addition to the Face Painting, Veg. & Plants, and Book stalls pictured below there was the 'Higher Lower Card' game, 'Pick a Nail' game stalls and a Cake Stall with a selection Sainsbury's couldn't match..

Overall the Allotment Society made £881.28 profit, another record!

Summer Fete 2009

Mediterranean temperatures and only a puff of white cloud against a deep blue sky, a good time was had by all. Our thanks to Sue Thomlinson, the rest of the Allotment Soc Committee and other helpers. The Society president Ben Chapman M.P. attended as usual, but unlike last year he didn't have to suffer three hours of steady rain!

The fire engine was there by invitation, not because the barby got out of control!
